Mrs. Hare grew up in Big Lake, MN (go Hornets!) and received
her Art Education degree from St. Cloud State University and
a Master's of Education from the U of M, Twin Cities. She is married to Shaun and together they have three kiddos- Marquette (3), Brockton (5) and Emerson (8).
When she can, Mrs. Hare loves to decorate (and re-decorate) her house. She absolutely can't get enough Chai tea or Diet Mt. Dew! Mrs. Hare also works part time for The Art of Education where she helps create resources for art teachers around the world!
Her favorite artist changes often. Sometimes it's the thick, gloppy paint strokes of Van Gogh, or the bold paper shapes of Matisse. But...since Mrs. Hare's family dog is named after the great Pablo Picasso, that may have to top the list!
I LOVE it when you combine Art and Science! Would you consider having your students create something with one of my wearable science projects from ScienceWear.net? My email is Hodgescience@yahoo.com and I would be so honored to discuss with you.

I am thinking of reinventing the way that I teach art in middle school. I teach in a k-8 school so I have a lot of time with these students. In 8th grade, I allow them to work at their own pace and proceed through projects. I am thinking of having a folder for each quarter and the assignments with rubrics will be in the folder and they can work on projects at their own pace. Have you ever done anything like this? or do you have any innovative ideas that you can share.
Sue- Very interesting concept. I have yet to try anything that open but since you have had the kids for so many years (and they are so familiar with classroom expectations), I think that it could work in your situation. Maybe just try one self-pace project first and see how it goes.
I love your blog. When I am looking for inspiration for a new project and just google image search, I almost always run across your blog! You are doing some great work with your students! Thanks for posting it!
I peak in at your great blog. Keep up the good work!
