Watercolor Batik Flower
These watercolor paintings were modeled after the ancient art technique of batik however crayon and watercolor was used as our media instead of hot wax and dye. An adjective was presented to each student to serve as inspiration.

First, we experimented with 12 watercolor techniques. Here you can see the names of all the techniques. Stations were set up so students could try all 12. Below is an example of what our watercolor samplers look like.
After we became "masters" at watercolor we begin to create our batik-like flowers. Each student received an adjective to serve as inspiration for techniques and colors. Some of our adjectives: Drab, Cheerful, Energetic, Crabby, Scary, Wacky, Angry and Smoggy.
Here are some finished projects. Can you guess which adjective served as that projects inspiration?
