Every since we made these crazy, little paper mache animal heads I've had many questions about how we made/make them...I posted this way back in 2011.

Project updates- Zentangle Still Life

Zentangle Still Lifes

What a successful project! We used Sharpie for our Zentangle backgrounds and chalk pastel for our still lifes. Focus was on variety of pattern as well as varied line thickness and value blending. At the beginning of the lesson, the still life image was projected on screen to allow for large classes to view it in detail. We also saved the image on our Edmodo class page for easy access anytime!

Paper cutting/collage unit

7th graders- please watch this short video about Notan paper cutting. You'll need to be familiar with the concept and the technique for class tomorrow. Please be prepared with answers to the following questions (you'll answer these in class tomorrow as soon as you come in).

#1: What kind of material should you use to draw on your black paper?
#2: What element (or elements) of art does Notan focus on?
#3: What is symmetry? What  is asymmetry?

Collaboration artwork: 94 7th graders, a three yr. old and Mrs. Hare

Here it is! The finished piece! What started as an experiment of 7th graders rolling paper tubes turned into a pretty cool collaboration 3D assemblage. 

We spent a few spare minutes a couple of weeks ago rolling strips of paper into tubes. Each student rolled an average of 10 in the time given. We weren't really sure what we would do with them all but good thing we made so many! Assembling them all together took Mrs. Hare and her three-year-old son about 2 1/2 hours (Emerson helped dip them in glue).  A little glitter spray and rhinestones complete the "super nova" look. This piece is going to be displayed at the district art show during the month of March. Come check it out at the Becker Public Library!
